小勝在是國小六年級正式接觸西洋音樂
那時候因為喜歡台灣的南方二重唱
而他們有一張全部都是西洋歌曲的專輯
從此開始愛上了60-70年代的西洋歌曲
一聽就是20年………..

喜歡西洋音樂的人不可能不知道這首
---加州旅館---
Eagles把這首歌詮釋得無懈可擊
一直到現在
只要我是要聽音樂的時候
裡面一定會有這首歌
以前只知道聽歌
並沒有對內容有太多研究
只覺得這首歌好輕快
而且裡面有幾段SOLO的片段
聽起來覺得超級熱血
這首歌一度是我在跑步時會一直重複播放的神曲
後來特別對歌詞研究跟上網查資料時
發現歌詞 超 級 黑 暗
首先
這首歌有許多的暗喻
因為畢竟以前民風比較保守
但是歌詞裡充滿了性愛，嗑藥，拜金
這在當時的社會風氣是完全的挑戰
內容道出了這些在好萊屋的藝人生活
有人需要創作靈感讓觀眾保持新鮮
所以就嗑藥吸大麻來尋求靈感
許多女明星透過肉體來取得演出機會
有些甚至就是性愛成癮
沒有為什麼，就是要性愛
但是這些人在花花世界迷失了之後
幾乎都回不到正常的生活
畢竟過慣了光鮮亮麗的日子
誰會願意回到平凡的人生?
所以有了這段

你隨時可以 check out
(可能意指死亡，許多人嗑藥嗑到歸西)
但是卻永遠離不開了
還有一段很特別
Mirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
這裡意指有些旅館會在天花板裝鏡子
讓開房間的人看到辦事的全程
並使用最低等的香檳
暗指是較低等的生活方式
因為畢竟並非人人都事業得意
許多小咖明星其實也是相當辛苦
另外第一段的colitas指的是毒品
只是要用比較隱喻的方式呈現
此外這一段
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
這裡的spirit指的是烈酒並非靈魂
簡單來說
想成烈到靈魂深處的酒
這樣應該夠烈的惹~
就是這首加州旅館
讓老鷹合唱團紅透半邊天
但是歌迷是嗜血且嚴格的
由於加州旅館太難超越
以至於接下來老鷹的作品
都沒有加州旅館紅
不過老鷹合唱團在搖滾樂壇的地位
至今仍是無庸置疑
不過因為這首歌歌詞很多隱喻
其實不好懂
是需要稍微了解時空背景的
